Youngstown - Bernard J. "Bernie" O'Neill, 81, of Youngstown, died Monday, June 16, 2008 at his residence. Mr. O'Neill was born August 29, 1926 in Youngstown, a son of William and Catherine Hannigan O'Neill. He was a life long area resident. Mr. O'Neill was a 1945 graduate of South High School and worked as an electrician for the Local 64 for 44 years, retiring in 1988. Mr. O'Neill served as past President of the Local 64. He was a United States Army veteran serving during World War II. Mr. O'Neill was a member of St. Christine's Church in Youngstown. He was also a member of the Saxon Club. His interests included sailing, camping, and attending his grandson's sporting events. He leaves his wife, the former Florence V. Hughes, whom he married in 1956; one daughter, Dianne O'Neill of Tucson, AZ; two sons, Gary (Peg) O'Neill of Lordstown and Brian O'Neill of Laguna Beach, CA; one brother, John "Jack" (Mary Frances) O'Neill of Boardman; four grandchildren, Jason and Justin Harrison of Tucson, AZ and Brandon and Daniel O'Neill of Lordstown; and a great-grandson, Jason Harrison. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Brad O'Neill; three brothers, Richard, William, and Vincent O'Neill; and his sister, Helen Hurley. A Memorial Mass will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at St. Christine's Church. Friends will be received one hour prior to the memorial service at the church.
