Bennie A. Fercana

Bennie A. Fercana, 80 Akron-Bennie A. Fercana, 80, died early Sunday morning at The Village at St. Edward. Mr. Fercana was born May 14, 1923 in Youngstown, Ohio, a son of James and Lena Giordan Fercana. He was formerly of Poland, where he was a resident for more than 45 years, he moved to The Village at St. Edward in 2003. He worked as Tool and Die Maker for Packard Electric (General Motors) from 1964-1997. He served as an Army Sergeant in the Philippine Islands during WW II. His wife Ann, whom he married May 23, 1958, died in 1988. He leaves one step-son, Duane (Judy) Sjostrom of Cortland; one son, David (Barbara) of Austintown; one daughter, Terry Fercana of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio; two brothers, Anthony and Carl Fercana; four granddaughters; five great-grandchildren; and two beloved dogs, Mya and Fritz. Besides his wife and parents he was preceded in death by one sister, Ann Morrison. A memorial mass will be Tuesday 2:00PM at the Holy Family Church in Poland. Memorial tributes may be given to Hospice of VNS, 3358 Ridgewood Road, Akron, Ohio 44333 or The Village at St. Edward, 3131 Smith Rd. Fairlawn, Ohio 44333. Arrangements are being handled by the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home, Poland.
