Barney Dennison, 77
Richfield- Barney was born on February 27, 1934, in Youngstown to Barney & Neva Dennison (Berardino Dionisio). Both parents came from Bugnara, in Abruzzo, Italy and are now deceased.
Barney graduated in 1952 from Woodrow Wilson High School in Youngstown, enlisted in the army in 1954, serving in Frankfurt, Germany. After his military service he attended the Cleveland Institute of Art for one year before transferring to the Cooper School of Art, graduating in 1958.
After graduating he worked for Dix & Eaton, an advertising agency in Cleveland. In September of 1957 he married Sally Blackford, also of Youngstown, and moved to Cleveland, where they lived until 1989 when they re-located to Richfield, Ohio.
In 1963, he and his two brothers opened an art studio, which is still operating under Pat's sons, 49 years later. Just before brother Tony's death they began a transition into real estate. They developed the Rockside Medical Center in Independence, an ambulatory surgery and physician center which he and brother Pat owned and were managing at the time of his death.
Besides his wife, Barney is survived by his brother Pat (Karen) of Aurora, Ohio, and sister Rose (Joe) of Youngstown. His eldest brother Tony (Carol) died in 1977. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Services will be Monday 11AM at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home 247 N. Main St. Poland, OH. Interment will follow at Lake Park Cemetery.
Friends may call Sunday from 2-4PM and 6-8PM at the funeral home.
