Youngstown-Barbara Zagotti, 69, went to be with the Lord on January 6, 2025, following a brief battle with cancer.
Barbara was born June 29, 1955 in Elkins, WV, a daughter of the late Welden “Bud” Tenney and Betty Amick.
She attended Boardman High School and then moved from the area for several years, returning in 1985 and making Youngstown her home. She met her husband, John, through her sister, Tammy. They married in 1998 and she remained with John until her death. During her time with hospice, John was right there taking care of Barb. The family is so proud of his care.
She loved cats and was often called “the crazy cat lady.” Barb loved to dance and sing karaoke. Most of all, she loved her family and friends and was always willing to help in any way she could. Barbara would always be the first to plan any kind of get-together, finding any reason to have the people she loved join in for the fun and laughter.
She will be deeply missed by her husband, John Zagotti. Barbara is also survived by her sister, Phyllis (Joe Edwards) Beharry and her mother and father-in-law, Mel and Diane. She will be missed by her nieces and nephews; Rebecca Beharry, Raven Beharry, KC (Nic Deal) Bable, Nico Deal, Jeremiah Bable, Nicole Bable and Christopher Pregi. Also surviving are aunts and uncles on her mother’s side and her husband’s large family.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Tammy Bable and her only brother Michael Tenney.
The family would like to give a big “Thank you” to Hospice of the Valley for their compassion and care of Barbara. We would also like to thank Stephanie, Melody, Patty, Rebecca and Aunt Marlene for assisting John so he could make all his appointments and prior commitments.
A celebration of life for Barbara will be held on Sunday, February 23, 2025, from 2-6 p.m., at Mauthe Park Hall, 156 Smithfield St., Struthers.
