Barbara Inez Williams, 92
North Lima: Barbara Inez Williams, 92, formerly of Youngstown, passed away peacefully Saturday morning, June 22, 2019 at Assumption Village in North Lima.
Barbara was born January 31, 1927 in Youngstown, the daughter of the late Dr. Nile D. and Frances (Carson) Blackmer, D.D.S.
She graduated from Struthers High School in 1945 and from Youngstown College with a Bachelor's Degree in Art Education. Barbara was an art teacher at Hillman Junior High School in Youngstown for several years.
Barbara was a member of Bethel Friends Church, and a member of NAMI, which is the National Alliance of Mental Illness. As an artist, Barbara especially enjoyed painting with water color and was also an accomplished piano player. She also enjoyed hiking, biking and traveling. Barbara and her husband Harry, whom she married in 1959, moved to Okinawa in 1960 and returned to California in 1965, and later Poland, Ohio.
Barbara is survived by a son, Robert Nile Williams of Youngstown and numerous nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents and husband, Harry Williams, who died May 1995, Barbara was preceded in death by two sisters, Frances Florene Van Meter and Betty Ludwig, who both died in 2009.
Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, June 25, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at Lake Park Cemetery, 1459 E. Midlothian Boulevard, Youngstown with Reverend Steve Rhodes officiating.
There are no calling hours.
