Poland-Barbara W. (Cantrell) West was called home to be with the Lord while surrounded by family and friends on Thursday, March 12, 2015, at the Hospice House in Poland.
Barbara was born November 19th, 1935 in Chatsworth, Georgia, one of four children. She moved to Ohio in 1954 after marrying the love of her life, Robert J. West Sr., where they raised three children of their own.
Mrs. West worked for the Poland Schools in the cafeteria as a cook, retiring after over 20 years of service.
Barbara was a very special woman who touched many lives. She had the ability to make friends wherever she went, and always had a smile on her face. She was gentle, strong, and loving. She raised her family with love, laughter, and Christian values. Barbara loved reading, quilting, singing, and spending time with her family.
Barbara leaves behind one daughter, Michele (West) Best of Poland; a granddaughter, Richele (Steve) Best Adkins of Champion; a grandson, Robert West III of Struthers; a son-in-law, John Lindsay of Boardman; and a brother, Horace "Spud" (Lillie) Cantrell of Georgia.
Mrs. West was preceded in death by her husband, Robert J. West Sr.; a daughter, Karen Lindsay; a son, Robert West Jr.; two brothers, Jack and Jeff Cantrell; her father, Jerry T. Cantrell; and her mother, Mary (Dotson) Cantrell.
A celebration of Barbara's life will be held on Saturday, March 28, 2015 at 4 p.m. at Memorial Baptist Church, 56 Water St, Poland.
The family suggests that memorial tributes take the form of contributions in Mrs. West's name to Memorial Baptist Church or Hospice of the Valley, 5190 Market St., Boardman, Ohio 44512.
