Youngstown - Barbara L. Stefan, 79, passed away Saturday morning, September 3, 2011 at St. Elizabeth Health Center.
Mrs. Stefan was born February 2, 1932 in Lake City, PA, a daughter of Arthur and Katherine Canfield Griffis, and came to this area as a child.
She was a 1950 graduate of North High School, where she was the prom queen. Mrs. Stefan was a homemaker and worked for the former Duffy Insurance Co. as a secretary.
She was a member of Christ United Presbyterian Church. Mrs. Stefan loved to cook, enjoyed reading, gardening and writing.
She leaves her husband, Fred C. Stefan, whom she married January 5, 1952; daughters, Tawny S. (Harry) Stefan Kniess of Euclid and Tammy L.(Dean) Stefan Shaffer of Cleveland; son, Thomas C. (Chris) Stefan of Dade City, Florida; and grandson, Gregory Stefan, also of Dade City.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, James Griffis; and a sister, Beverly Griffis Gray.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, September 10, at 11 a.m. at Christ United Presbyterian Church with Pastor Benjamin Graves officiating.
Friends will be received one hour prior to the service at the church.
