Poland - Barbara A. Moore, 94, formerly of Walker Mill Road, passed away on Friday, February 16, 2024, at Windsor House at Canfield surrounded by her loving family.
Barbara was born January 1, 1930 in Youngstown, OH, a daughter of the late Orrin and Esther (Mellinger) Brownlee.
She graduated from North High School in Youngstown and was a lifelong resident of the Mahoning Valley.
Barbara worked at Mahoning National Bank in Youngstown from 1947 to 1952. In 1967, she became a clerk at Youngstown State University starting in the Records and Registrations department before moving to the Career Placement Office, retiring in 1979.
She was a member of Poland Presbyterian Church, where she was a member of the Bell Choir.
Barbara was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister who enjoyed spending time with her family. In her leisure time, she enjoyed reading, sewing, quilting, and growing vegetables in her garden.
Barbara is survived by two sons, David J. (Laurie) Moore of Canfield, OH, and Raymond L. (Barbara) Moore of Poland, OH; four grandchildren, Matthew (Dr. Abigail) Moore of North Lima, OH, Brian (Dr. Kelly Fening) Moore of Harrisburg, PA, Gabby (Chris) Massey of Boardman, OH and Ashley (Jake) Zimmerman of Lowellville, OH; five great-grandchildren, Kennedy Massey, Landon Massey, Abel Zimmerman, Ruthanne Zimmerman, and Benjamin Zimmerman. She also leaves several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, Barbara was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, James H. Moore, whom she married on December 2, 1950 and died March 30, 2016; twin granddaughters, Emily Ann and Amanda Leigh Moore; three brothers, Todd Brownlee, Richard Brownlee, and Jack Brownlee.
Family and friends may call on Wednesday, February 21, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. at Davis-Becker Funeral Home, 8536 Market Street in Boardman. There will be a funeral service to follow at noon on Wednesday at the funeral home with Dr. Paul Anderson officiating. Interment will follow at the Poland Riverside Cemetery.
The family would like to recognize Southern Care Hospice for their kind, compassionate efforts.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that material tributes take the form of contributions to the Salvation Army, 1501 Glenwood Avenue, Youngstown, Ohio 44511 or to Southern Care Hospice, 970 Windham Court #9, Youngstown, Ohio 44512 in memory of Barbara.
