Struthers - Avis B. Holt, 101 of Struthers , Ohio , died Tuesday, January 18, 2011 at the Maplecrest Nursing Home.
Mrs. Holt was born September 4, 1909 in Linton , IN , daughter of Lorenzo and Charlotte (Thompson) Powell.
She worked as a electrician at Stewart Warner Aircraft. During WWII, she was a caregiver for many children. Mrs. Holt was a die hard Chicago Cub's fan, and had been attending games since the 1930's. She enjoyed riding horses, driving motorcycles, playing baseball, and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, especially her two great-grandchildren.
Her husband, Dewey Holt whom she married in 1930 died in 1962.
She is survived by two grandchildren, Michael (Becky) Johnson of Struthers and Melissa Ann Ford of San Diego , CA ; and two great-grandchildren, Cody Lee Johnson and Lola Grace Johnson.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Ruth Ann Johnson, and siblings, Dale Powell, Perry (Pete) Powell, Merle Powell, Gary Powell, Betty, Chester (Newt) Powell and Lotus Rains.
There will be no calling hours. A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date
Funeral arrangements are being handled by the Davidson-Becker Funeral Home in Struthers.
