Avanelle "Sandy" Shelton

Boardman - Avanelle "Sandy" Shelton, 72, died August 31, 2015 in Nursing Home Assumption Village. Sandy was born May 22, 1943 in San Diego, CA, daughter of the late George and Avanelle Farr McBride.
She was a 1961 graduate of Hubbard High School and, after raising her children, went on to earn her nursing degree from Salem Community Hospital in 1983. She was employed as an LPN for Forum Health for 30 years, retiring in 2007. Sandy had a love for nursing and was a wonderful homemaker before her career began. Sandy enjoyed cooking, baking and was an avid animal advocate. She enjoyed decorating wedding cakes before becoming a nurse. She was a caregiver to many throughout the years even after her retirement.
She leaves her two daughters, Tricia (Steven) Katz of Harleysville, PA and Rebecca E. Shelton of Boynton Beach, FL; her son, Ronald J (Patricia) Rakyta of Boynton Beach, FL; sister, Kathleen McBride; two brothers, Lawrence McBride, Gerald McBride; four granddaughters, Victoria Shelton, Madison, Hannah and Lily Rakyta; and her beloved dog, Gabby.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first Husband, Ronald Rakyta, and her second husband, William Shelton; her sister, Patricia McBride, and her brother, Thomas McBride.
