Audrey L. McComb

January 20, 1926 — October 9, 2013

Poland - Audrey L. (Jones) McComb, 87, died Wednesday morning, October 9, 2013 at the Hospice House with her loving family at her side.

Audrey was born January 20, 1926 in Youngstown, a daughter of John W. Jones and Susan F. (Haggerty) Jones Hirsch.

A graduate of South High School, class of 1944, Audrey worked for the Ohio Bell Telephone Company until 1949. She married her former husband, George R. McComb in 1948. She later worked as a switchboard operator at American Paper Products in Boardman for 24 years, retiring in 1991.

Audrey was a devoted and loving mother to Cheryl (Dennis) Richards, a wonderful cook, an avid reader, a fine bridge player, and loyal friend to many. She always enjoyed her many trips to Las Vegas, Aruba, and Mountaineer with her son-in-law, Dennis, whom she loved as a son. This last May, Audrey, Dennis, and her friend Mary Helen, were able to make one last trip to Las Vegas. Audrey enjoyed attending her functions and activities, but always looked forwarding to getting home and nestling back in with her daughter, son-in-law, and the family dog, Elmer. She made her home with them for the last 13 years.

Audrey will always be remembered as a caring and generous person with a cheerful disposition. She will be sadly missed and forever loved by her family and dear friends.

She is survived by her daughter, Cheryl (Dennis) Richards of Poland; and sister-in-law, Jean McComb of Poland.

In addition to her parents and former husband, Audrey was preceded in death by her beloved step-father, Harry J. Hirsch; three brothers, Wilbur, William, and infant Jackie; and her sister, Annabelle Kling; brother-in-law, David L. McComb; and sister-in-law, Pat Jones.

A private family service was held at the Lake Park Cemetery Chapel.

The family wishes to thank the Hospice House and the nurses and staff of 3W at St. Elizabeth Boardman Health Center for the excellent and compassionate care they provided to Audrey.

Audrey's family requests that any memorial tributes take the form of contributions in Mrs. McComb's name to Hospice House, 9803 Sharrott Road, Poland, Ohio 44514.
