Poland - Audrey R. Johnston, 89, died Saturday morning, October 8, 2011 at Sunrise Assisted Living in Poland.

Mrs. Johnston was born June 17, 1922 in Trade City, PA, a daughter of Ira and Ruth Adams Martin. She moved from Indiana, PA to Poland in 1956.

Mrs. Johnston worked for many years as a secretary for the Struthers United Methodist Church. She was a member of Poland United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women.

Her husband, Norman C. Johnston, whom she married October 29, 1948, died April 20, 2006. She leaves four daughters, Deborah (Paul) Denmeade of Poland, Cindy Charlotte of Olmsted Township, Cathy (Larry) Duck of Struthers, and Julie (Garry) Stone of Darien, IL; two sisters, Esther Wiley and Claribel (Charles) Mikesell, both of Indiana, PA; and five grandchildren, Kellie (Joseph) Gabriel, Bryan Charlotte, Melanie Charlotte, Matthew Stone, and Becky Stone; and one great grandson, Noah Gabriel.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, John Johnston; infant granddaughter, Stacey Denmeade; one brother, Leonard Martin; and sister, Pauline Rogers.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the Poland Riverside Cemetery Chapel, where friends will be received from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the service.

The family requests that memorial tributes take the form of contributions in Mrs. Johnston's name to Poland United Methodist Church, 1940 Boardman-Poland Road, Poland, Ohio 44514.

Arrangements are being handled by the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home, Poland Chapel.
