Arthur N. Flauto Jr

Poland- Arthur N. Flauto Jr., 73, of Poland, died suddenly Saturday evening, May 23, 2015 at his residence.

Art, affectionately known as Chip, was born June 29, 1941 in Youngstown, a son of Arthur and Helen Paris Flauto.

He was raised in Struthers and attended St. Nicholas School. Art was a student and football player of the first class of Cardinal Mooney High School, the Class of 1959. He went on to play football for St. Vincent's College in Latrobe, Pa., and received his Bachelor of Arts in 1963. He returned to Youngstown and taught Spanish and Political Science at Niles McKinley High School from 1963 to 1965. During his tenure at Niles McKinley he served a 6 month sabbatical in Mexico. He then coached football at The Rayen School.

During his teaching and coaching career, Art attended Youngstown State University and received his Bachelor of Science in Accounting and went on to pass the Certified Public Accountant exam.

As a Certified Public Accountant, Art worked at Ernst and Ernst from 1966 to 1968 and then opened his own practice, A.N. Flauto Jr., CPA. In 1991 he and his business partner, Deborah Kitelinger (Remias) formed Flauto and Kitelinger, CPA's. They sold their practice to Bodine Perry in 2005 and Art remained a principal of that company until his death. A highly respected businessman in his field, Art was a member of Ohio Society of CPA's and American Institute of Certified Public Accounts.

A classic car enthusiast, Art owned and restored numerous cars and model trains over the years. He loved sports especially the Pittsburgh Steelers of which he became a fan during his St. Vincent's days. Art was a member of the Mahoning County Olde Car Club and the U.S. Steel Beer and Steak Club.

Art was a thoughtful, caring, gentle man. he was a loving husband, committed father to his sons, and a devoted grandfather. He will be greatly missed by his family and many friends.

Art leaves his mother Helen of Poland; his wife, together for 23 years, the former Donna Clinton, whom he married November 30, 2001; two sons, Dr. John (Lisa) Flauto of Boardman and Dr. Ronald (Angie) Flauto of Bath, OH; sister, Terri (Dennis) Morris of Poland; brother, Chris (Donna) Flauto also of Poland; step-son, Mark Cain of Lowellville; step-daughter, Lisa Golterman of Boardman; six grandchildren, Elena, Maria, and Alexander Flauto, Vincent, Arianna, and Giulianna Flauto; three step-grandchildren, Dr. Courtney Golterman Kwan, and Chelsea and Connor Golterman; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Besides his father, Art was preceded in death by his son, Richard Flauto; and infant brother, Vincent Flauto.

A Prayer Services will be held Thursday at 9:00 AM. at the Davis-Becker Funeral Home, Boardman followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM at Christ our Savior Parish at St. Nicholas Church in Struthers with Fr. Bernard Bonnot officiating. Interment will follow at the Poland Riverside Cemetery.

Friends will be received Wednesday from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the funeral home.
