Arthur D. DeCenso, Sr. 80 POLANDâa�"Arthur D. DeCenso, Sr., 80, of Poland., died Monday evening at St. Elizabeth Medical Center. Mr. DeCenso was born October 13, 1925 in Youngstown, a son of James & Concetta Ventreska DeCenso. He was a life long area resident. He was a 1944 graduate of Girard High School. Upon graduation, he enlisted in the United States Army and served in World War II, in Central Europe. Mr. DeCenso received an American Theater Ribbon, EAME Theater Ribbon, the Bronze Star; the Good Conduct Medal; the Army Occupational Ribbon, and the Victory Medal. After the war, he worked at General Fireproofing for over 33 years, retiring in the 1970âa�a��s as a Supervisor. Mr. DeCenso was a member of St. Luke Catholic Church, in Boardman, was the past president of Poland Community Baseball Association; and was a boy scout leader in Poland for many years. His wife the former Beverly Thomas whom he married October 25, 1947, died May 16, 1992. He is survived by one daughter, Deborah (Edward) Piper of Boardman; one son, Arthur (Kathy) DeCenso, Jr., of New Middletown; one sister, Amelia Andrews of Santa Clara, California; two brothers, John (Catherine) DeCenso of Austintown, Frank (Jane) DeCenso of Girard; a son-in-law Ron Gallo of Salem; and seven grandchildren, Jason DeCenso, Jenny DeCenso, Carolyn Piper, Courtney Gallo, Jeff DeCenso; Tracey Piper, and Kaleigh Gallo. Besides his parents and wife, Mr. DeCenso was preceded in death by a daughter Ruth Gallo, and one brother Mario DeCenso. Services will be Friday at 9:15 AM at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home, Poland; A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM in St. Luke Catholic Church.
