Boardman - Antoinette M. "G.G." Monaco, 88, passed away peacefully on August 13, 2024 at her home.
She was born May 20, 1936 in Weirton, WV, a daughter of the late Francesco and Mary Rose (Rossi) Marafiote. She graduated from East High School in 1954, and worked for the International Institute, which helped new immigrants in the area to adjust to their new lives, until she got married. She then dedicated her life to taking care of her family.
If there was one thing that Antoinette would be remembered for it would be her wicked sense of humor, something she passed on to her family. She was well known for her pizzelle making skills, enjoying a word search now and again, and listening to Tom Jones or country music.
But to say that Antoinette's pride and joy were her family would be a vast understatement. She was her husband's biggest fan and supporter when he played accordion in the Rocco Monaco Band, traveling to his different shows and was a groupie long before it was the cool thing to do. She loved her children dearly, and when she became a grandma and great-grandma, her love only grew larger for them all.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her children, John Monaco of Boardman, Rosemary Gozur of McConnells, SC, and Janine (Jim) Valerio of Canfield; her grandchildren, Eric (Jodi) Gozur, Vincent (Rachel) Valerio, Ashley (Brittain) Jordan, Julien (Chelsea) Gozur, and Dominic (Tess) Valerio; and her great-grandchildren, Lauren, Eric III, Sophia, Bennett, Vinny, Natalie, Miller, Lorenzo, and Nathan; along with numerous beloved nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Rocco John Monaco, who passed away April 21, 2018; her son-in-law, Eric Gozur; and her brother, Vito Marafiote.
In accordance with Antoinette's wishes, there will be no calling hours or services. In lieu of any gifts, her family asks for donations to her favorite charity, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 2000 Town Center Suite 1730, Southfield, MI 48075, or by visiting www.stjude.org.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Davis-Becker Funeral Home in Boardman. Please visit www.beckerobits.com to send the family condolences.
