POLAND-Devoted mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, Anne Stillson Peck of Poland passed away Tuesday in her home, with her sister and four children by her side.
Anne was active in several charities. She was the co-founder and for 20 years the co-leader for a group which offered support and services for local blind and disabled residents. She also read for the blind through Radio Reading, volunteered with Hospice of the Valley, and served several charities through Boardman United Methodist Church, of which she was a faithful member for more than forty years.
Anne graduated from Poland Seminary High School and attended Ohio Wesleyan University, where she studied nutrition. She married Reuel Peck in 1954.
Anne and Reuel raised four children together before Anne began working outside the home, primarily as an assistant for Dr. Robert McConnell, ultimately going back to school to earn her nursing degree. She graduated with honors from Choffin in 1988 and worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse.
Anne enjoyed sewing, crafts, herbs, gardening, and walking through the woods near her home, but her primary passion has always been spending time with, caring for, and loving her family. Her kitchen was the focal point for countless family gatherings, and her relentless support, love, and compassion for her nine grandchildren was evident to all who knew her.
Anne was preceded in death by her parents, Lloyd and Dorothy Stillson, and her husband, Reuel. She leaves her sister, Lynne Rugaber (Bob) of Butler, her children and their spouses, Carolyn Rubenstein (Vic), Lloyd (Vikki), Nancy Mandl (Mike) and Jim (Susann), as well as nine grandchildren, VJ (Lisa) and Mark Rubenstein, Michael and Grace Mandl, and David, Libby, Matt, Ryan, and Andrew Peck.
The family would like to thank Hospice of the Valley and every member of Anne's exceptional care giving team who became a part of our family and who gave Anne such a special last year.
Family and friends will be received today from 9:30-10:45 a.m. at the Boardman United Methodist Church, 6809 Market Street, where a funeral service will be held today at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at Poland Riverside Cemetery.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be directed to Hospice of the Valley, 5190 Market Street, Boardman, Ohio 44512 or Youngstown Radio Reading Service, a department of Youngstown Goodwill Industries, 2747 Belmont Avenue, Youngstown, Ohio 44505.
