POLAND-Anna C. Horvath, 94, died Monday afternoon, September 15, 2014 at the Hospice House.
Mrs. Horvath was born June 11, 1920 in Youngstown, a daughter of Otto and Catherine Shaffer Haug.
Raised in Youngstown, she attended South High School. She married her husband, Frank J. Horvath, on August 29, 1941 and they moved to Poland in 1956. Mrs. Horvath was primarily a dedicated homemaker and in the early 1960's, she worked for the Poland Schools in the cafeteria for five years.
She was a former member of the Wedgewood Park Evangelical Church and a current member of Bethel Friends Church in Poland, where she belonged to its Women's Missionary Society. In her free time, she enjoyed sewing, cross-stitching, and reading, especially the Bible.
Her husband, Frank, preceded her in death on April 21, 1980. She is survived by two daughters, Barbara (Gary) Buckley of Austintown and Carole Hansen of Wisconsin; four grandchildren, Jessica Buckley of Austintown, Frank (Lisa) Buckley of Florida, James (Maureen) Hansen of Illinois, and Beth (Earl) Sund of Illinois; six great-grandchildren, Brittany, Raymond, Devon, all of Austintown, Parker of Florida, and Maty and Ethan of Illinois; and sister, Josephine Habodasz-McBratney of California.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Verdella Bell, Lenore "Butch" Varley, and Marie Mayfield.
A funeral service will be held at Bethel Friends Church on Wednesday at 12 p.m., where family and friends will be received from 11-11:45 a.m. at the church.
