Ann M. Sosnowski

July 22, 1922 — October 21, 2011

Struthers-Ann M. Sosnowski, 89, died early Friday morning, October 21, 2011 at the Hospice House.

Mrs. Sosnowski was born July 22, 1922 in Campbell, a daughter of Martin and Katherina Toporcer Basista.

She was a 1941 graduate of East High School. In 1942, Mrs. Sosnowski was employed as an assistant buyer at Strouss Department Store in downtown Youngstown. She met her husband, John, in the department store, following his return from the war. Ann would work for them until her marriage on September 20, 1947.

She took pride in being a homemaker and loved taking care of her husband and three children. Ann and John enjoyed their time together, shared the love of family, friends, and dancing. After 27 years of marriage, John died on August 3, 1975.

She was a member of Christ our Savior Parish at St. Nicholas Roman Catholic Church in Struthers, the Senior Club at St. Stanislaus Church, where she volunteered her time making pieroghi, and the Struthers VFW Ladies Auxiliary Post No. 7538. Mrs. Sosnowski enjoyed bowling and belonged to the Women's Seniors at the Holiday Bowl and the Charter Mixed League at Camelot Lanes. Her other interests included dancing, polka music, playing cards, scrabble, traveling, and going on bus trips.

She will be forever missed by her son, John Sosnowski of Poland; two daughters, Karen Bundy and Joanie (Kim) Smith, both of Canfield; and five grandchildren, Jason (Eileen) Bundy, Megan Bundy, Jessica and Audrey Smith, and Kate Sosnowski.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary and Christine Basista; and four brothers, Joseph, John, Martin, and Stephen Basista.

A prayer service will be held Tuesday at 9:15 a.m. at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home in Poland, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Nicholas Roman Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery.

Family and friends will be received Monday from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
