Ann Marie Sikora, 94, passed away Wednesday evening, August 28, 2019 at Masternick Memorial Health Care.
Ann was born February 27, 1925 in Struthers, a daughter of Michael and Maria Demcko Macabobby.
Ann was a strong spirited and independent ball of fire with a heart of gold. When her mother died at a young age, Ann a teenager herself, stayed home from school to take care of her siblings. After Ann's children were raised, Ann and her husband raised her brother's five children after her brother George and his wife Irene died. Ann supported her nieces and nephews as a self employed housekeeper and baker.
Ann loved her home in Struthers and her church, Holy Apostles Parish, St. Stephen of Hungary in Youngstown. A loyal and active member, Ann cleaned the church and the rectory and planted the flowers. She was the church Sacristan, a member of the Prayer Group, Parish Family Life, and an honorary member of St. Stephen Altar and Rosary Society. A wonderful cook and baker, Ann cooked her delicious scrambled eggs, (her secret ingredient, lots of butter) for the bi-annual pancake breakfast of the church. At one time she baked over 200 kolachi's for the church fundraiser.
Ann leaves to cherish her memory, Joyce Elaine Jack of North Lima; two sons, John "Larry" Sikora of Elkins, WV and William (Geraldine) Sikora of Charleston, SC; nine grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; one sister, Mary Jaros of Struthers; numerous nieces and nephews including the four she raised, Miriam Baker, Renee Jardy and Peter and Michael Macabobby.
In addition to her parents, Ann was preceded in death by her son, James Sikora; former husband, John L. Sikora; four brothers, John, George, Michael, and Edward Macabobby; sister, Margie Gregg; and niece, Carol Macabobby.
