Struthers - Ann Sebest, 84, of Struthers, died Thursday, September 4, 2008 in Hospice of the Valley, Hospice House. Mrs. Sebest was born January 1, 1924 in Czechoslovakia, a daughter of Martin and Anna Chromy Kecka. She came to Montreal, Quebec in 1937 and to the United States in 1946. She was a member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Campbell and was a member of the First Slovak Catholic Ladies Association and the YMCA. Ann enjoyed spending time with her Struthers Senior Citizens group. Her hobbies encompassed needlework, gardening and traveling. Her greatest love was her family. She remained active and energetic in the pursuit of her interest throughout her life. Those who knew her could easily identify with her unique traits. Her husband, Paul R. Sebest, whom she married Ocotber 5, 1946, died October 31, 1992. She leaves her daughter, Rosemary (David) Yerian of Poland; two sons, Dr. Paul (Carol) Sebest of Poland and Kenneth Sebest of Struthers; three grandchildren, Melissa (Theodore) Nix of Hilliard, Ohio, Lauren Sebest of Poland and Jane (Eric) Buckingham of Boardman; and one great-grandson, Preston Buckingham. Besides her parents and husband, Ann was preceded in death by one brother, Andrew Kecka; and three great-grandchildren, James, Andrew and Justin Buckingham. Funeral services will be held Monday, 10:30 a.m. at the St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Campbell with Father Michael Swierz officiating. Interment will follow in the St. John Cemetery. Friends will be received Sunday, 3-6 p.m. at the funeral home and Monday from 9:30 a.m. until 10:15 a.m. in the church.
