Ann L. Garasic Poland- Ann L. Garasic, 91, of Poland, died Tuesday afternoon at the Hospice House. Mrs. Garasic was born April 16, 1916 in Carbon, Pennsylvania, a daughter of Matthew and Eva Kopilash Zelenika. She was raised in Carbon and came to Poland in 1936. Mrs. Garasic attended Bessemer High School and was a homemaker. She was a charter member of Holy Family Church and a member of itsâa�a�� Senior Citizens Club. She was a member and former treasurer of the Poland Womenâa�a��s Democratic Club, charter member, former president and secretary of Poland Center Homemaker Club, past treasurer of Step Committee, a member of the American Croatian Citizen Club, LTV #2162 Auxiliary in Struthers, Friends of Bethel Friends Senior Citizens and Jesusâa�a�� Lord Prayer Group. Mrs. Garasic was named, The VINDICATOR, âa�A"Cook of the Week.âa�A� Her husband, Stephen Rudolph Garasic, whom she married June 17, 1939, died December 27, 1998. She leaves two sons, Stephen (Karen) Garasic Jr. of Columbiana and Matthew (Helen) Garasic of Poland; three grandchildren, Matthew Garasic, Sarah Strines and Leaha Dinsio; and one great-granddaughter, Isabella Strines. Besides her parents and husband, Mrs. Garasic was preceded in death by three brothers, Stanley and John Zelinka, and Peter Zelenika. Funeral services will be Friday, 9:30 AM at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home, Poland and 10:00 AM at Holy Family Church. Friends may call Thursday from 5-8 PM at the funeral home. The family requests Memorial Tributes go to Hospice of the Valley, 5190 Market Street, Boardman, OH 44512.
