BOARDMAN - Ann Canaday, 73 passed from this world at 1:30am Saturday Sept. 18, 2010 at St. Elizabeth Medical Center.
Ann was born Jan. 31, 1937 in Wichita, Kansas, the daughter of Rex and Mable Louise Anderson.
Ann graduated from Fredericktown High School in 1955 and earned a Bachelor's Degree from Wooster College and a Master's Degree in Library Science from Western Reserve University in Cleveland.
Ann lived a busy and productive life, and was loved and respected by everyone who knew her. An active member of the Westminster Presbyterian Church, she co-coordinated the Westminster Annual Book Sale for more than 25 years, and had been in charge of Boardman High School Band uniform issue for seven years.
Ann belonged to three soroal organizations: She is a member of Miriam Chapter, Order of the Easter Star, and was a Pastworthy Matron of the former Lamplight Chapter of Poland. She also held the titles of Pastworthy High Priestess and Pastworhy Scribe of the white Shrine of Jerusalem, Ruth Shrine #64 of Poland.
Ann was very creative, filling her days with crafting, puzzling, and cooking for family and friends. She especially loved Christmas and giving. Her family was the dearest part of her heart and life.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. J. H. Canaday, D.O. a pathologist at Youngstown Osteopathic Hospital for several decades.
She is survived by her two sons, Michael Canaday of Boardman and Dr. David Canaday, M.D., Associate Professor at Case Western Reserve University, her daughter-in-law Katherine Canaday, Pharm D.; her two grandsons, Jack 14, and William, 10 of Cleveland her brother David M. and "Cookie" Anderson of Sandusky; her niece Jeanie and her daughter Gretchen; her nephew and family, James and Chastity Anderson, and Jessica and Jed Anderson, also of Sandusky.
Calling hours are at Westminster Presbyterian Church, Wednesday, Sept. 22, 2010 from 4-6:45pm. A shrine ceremony will commence at 6:45pm. The memorial services will begin at 7:00pm. Ann will then join her husband at Fredericktown Cemetery.
Arrangements are being handled by the Davis-Becker Funeral Home, 4996 Market Street in Boardman.
