STRUTHERS - Angelo Benedict Sebastiano, 82, formerly of Liberty Township, went to walk with the Lord, Monday evening, March 19, 2012.
Mr. Sebastiano was born March 21, 1929, in Youngstown, a son of Anthony and Mary Bucchianico Sebastiano.
He was a 1948 graduate of The Rayen School and received his Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration from Youngstown State University. He worked in management for U.S. Steel Corporation until its closing. To continue his higher education, Angelo attended Westminster College and received his Master's Degree in Education.
Angelo's career as an educator expanded over 30 years and touched many lives making a huge impact on his students and fellow teachers. He first worked for Bloomfield School System, in Bloomfield, as a teacher and student council advisor for five years. He then continued as an Educator and Administrator for the Youngstown School System for 25 years. Angelo was instrumental in the development of Todd Vocational School, where he adored the students and daily challenges as he mentored and changed lives of many for years to come.
Angelo was a former member of St. Vincent de Paul Church in Vienna and was currently a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church in Youngstown. Ang loved working outside planting his flowers and extensive yard work, golfing, and most of all spending time with his wife, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Grandpa Angelo's family traditions and values will continue on within his nine grandchildren, especially the Italian tradition on Christmas Eve.
Angelo loved traveling with his wife, Dolores. They traveled south for the winter to Davenport, Fla. for 14 years, before moving there permanently for the last several years until his illness. While in Florida, they volunteered for the "Give Kids the World Foundation" in Orlando.
He is survived by his life companion and wife of 60 years, the former Dolores Moskosky, whom he married Jan. 26, 1952; two daughters, Patricia (David) Hanson of Ellwood City and Theresa Sebastiano of Youngstown; son, Dr. Anthony Sebastiano of Boca Raton, Fla.; brother, Patsy(Madeline) Sebastiano of Hubbard; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his infant daughter, Linda Sebastiano.
A private Mass was held Saturday at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church.
The family would like to thank the staff of Maplecrest Nursing Home, who Ang adopted as his second family, and Mr. Ed O'Neill of Los Angeles for his thoughtful recognition of Mr. Sebastiano as one of his life mentors.
