Lowellville - Andrew Thomas Grischow, 72, of Lowellville, died of pulmonary complications Sunday morning, November 27, 2016 at St. Elizabeth Boardman Health Center, surrounded by his family.
Andrew, affectionately known as Tom, was born August 9, 1944 in Youngstown, a son of William and Millie Kuchmaner Grischow.
A 1962 graduate of Struthers High School, Tom received his BS in Psychology from Mount Union College. Tom played center for Struthers High School football and linebacker at Mount Union College. He received "The Hatchet Man Award" at Mount Union.
Tom started at Republic Steel and was superintendent of the Blooming Mill and 36" mill at LTV and later WCI Steel Company. At Republic Steel Andrew was nicknamed GoGo for never letting the grass grow under his feet. In 1989 Tom moved on and bought the former Lee Run Golf course. He renamed it Bedford Trails and created the 18 hole multidimensional golf course it is today.
A United States Army veteran, Tom was drafted during the Vietnam War and served in Germany.
Tom enjoyed riding horses and spending time with his family. He was a loyal husband, father and grandfather.
Tom leaves his wife of 43 years, the former Ann Lynne Steffen, whom he married August 22, 1973; two sons, Bryan Thomas (Kira) Grischow of Westerville, OH, and Andrew Gregory (Lindsey) Grischow of Poland; three brothers, Gregory (Maria) Grischow of Struthers, William (Pat) Grischow of East Canton, and Donald (Debbie) Grischow of Fort Worth, TX; six grandchildren, Caley, Olivia, Julia, Avrey, Ariel, and Camren.
In addition to his parents Tom was preceded in death by his brother Ronald Grischow.
In honor of Tom's wishes there will be no calling hours or funeral services.
