Andrew F. Cain

Andrew F. Cain, 84, a resident of Courtyard Assisted Living, Salem, died June 20, 2017, with his daughter at his side. He was the son of Hallie and Ruth Ellen Schisler Cain of Ellsworth, Ohio. He was raised by his Uncle Dotso and Aunt Wilma Schisler Blasiman after his mother’s death at age 2.
He was born February 24, 1933. Andy drove for various trucking companies in the Mahoning Valley and was a US army veteran. He was a member of Allen Lodge #276 F&AM and a clown with Aut Mori Grotto with the name Candy. He was a long-time member of the Canfield Road Runners - having completed five Boston Marathons with the best time 3:25:26.
He is survived by a daughter Cathy (John) Wilms, Franklin Square and son Jim, Brockport, NY; two granddaughters Sarah (Matthew) Carroll, Salem and Abbey (Jonathon) McCann, North Jackson; and three great-grandsons Greyson and Easton Carroll and Emmett McCann. Also surviving is his Aunt Wilma Blasiman, Salem.
Andy always routed for the underdog. To his bluegrass friends "I thank God for cloudy nights in Southern Alabama!" and harvest time in Homer Lawson’s field.
The family wishes to thank the caring Courtyard staff for the compassionate care given to their father in his hour of need.
