Poland - Andrew Botsco, 93, of Poland, formerly of Struthers, died Thursday morning at St. Elizabeth Boardman Health Center.
Andrew was born August 27, 1918 in Struthers, a son of John and Mary Sekerak Botsko. He was a life-long resident of Struthers, living in the family home on Grandview, until moving to Boardman in 2005.
He was a graduate of Struthers High School and worked as a shear machine operator for Hynes Steel for 48 years.
A United States Army Veteran, Andrew served in World War II as Master Sergeant from 1941-1945.
Andrew was an avid baseball fan. When he was younger he played sandlot baseball and was in the JEDNOTA Baseball League. Not only did he love watching baseball on TV but he loved watching football as well. He also enjoyed fishing and working with wood. Andrew was a member of the Infant Jesus of Prague in Boardman.
Andrew leaves two sisters, Susan Palan of Colorado Springs, CO., and Helen Marconi of Poland; two brothers, Edward Botsko of Boardman, and James (Mary Jane) Botsko of Gallatin, TN; his dear friend, Kay Basich of Youngstown; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Andrew was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Klesch and Anna Botsko; and four brothers, William, John, Joseph, and Stephen Bostko.
Funeral services will be Monday, 10:00 AM at the Infant Jesus of Prague in Boardman. Interment will follow at the Calvary Cemetery, Youngstown.
Friends will be received Sunday from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home, Poland where the Parastas will be held at 6:00 pm and the Panachita, Monday, at 9:15 AM at the funeral home.
