Services will be held Monday, 2:00 p.m. at Davis-Becker Funeral Home for Alpha May Webb, formerly of Boardman Blvd. She passed away peacefully early Thursday morning at Masternick Memorial Health Care Center.
Alpha was born May 24, 1913 in Meyersdale, Pennsylvania, a daughter of Christopher R. and Catherine I. Rizer Marten.
Alpha was a member, since 1959, of Calvary Baptist Church. She volunteered for 9 years with the RSVP Senior Corps program, and with the Nutrition Program at St. Dominic Church. She was also a member of the Pleasantimers Seniors at Pleasant Grove Presbyterian Church.
In the late 1990's, Alpha was instrumental in circulating a petition and persuading the WRTA to provide bus service to the senior citizen apartments on Boardman Blvd., in which she was one of the first residents.
Her husband Eugene D. Webb, whom she married in April of 1932 in Cumberland, Maryland, died November 26, 1949.
Surviving her are two sons, Curtis E. (Josephine) Webb of Clermont, FL and Michael L. (Terri Rogan) Webb of Boardman, and five grandchildren, six great grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren.
Preceding her in death besides her husband and parents are a son, Donald E. Webb Sr., and two sisters, Pearl Jackson and Geneva Summers, and nine brothers, Charles, Walter, Clever, George, Howard, Roy, Louis, Leo, and Clinton Martin.
Friends may call Monday from 1:00 - 1:45 p.m. at the funeral home.
Alpha's wishes were that material tributes would take the form of contributions to Calvary Baptist Church Memorial Fund; 1463 Shields Rd. Boardman, Ohio 44511.
