STRUTHERS - Alma Mae Paris, 56 of Knollwood Avenue, died Saturday, October 10, 2009 at the Hospice House after a 10 month battle with cancer.
Mrs. Paris was born in Youngstown, a daughter of Russell and Dorothy Sanders Taggart, and was a life long area resident.
She was a 1971 graduate of Struthers High School, and attended Youngstown State University. Mrs. Paris was a member of the St. Nicholas Roman Catholic Church. She worked for the Youngstown School System at Taft Elementary as a cafeteria worker. Mrs. Paris was known for her excellent cooking and home decorating. Known by her daughters friends as "Mama Alma" and she was known for giving good advice.
She is survived by her husband of 35 years, Paul J. Paris, Jr., whom she married April 27, 1974; two daughters, Jessica L. Paris and Kimberly D. Paris both at home along with the family dog Boo; one sister Jeannett Meredith of Struthers, her father and mother in law; Paul Sr., and Marian Paris of Boardman, a brother-in-law Joe (Phyllis ) Paris of Poland; one sister in law, Sandy (Bob) Delquadri of Avon Lake; four nieces, Pamela (Tony) Mancini; Angela Paris, Dawn Meredith and Marianne (Lee) Rhoades.
Besides her parents, she is preceded in death by an infant daughter, Jamie Lee Paris.
Family and friends will be received Tuesday from 4-7 at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home in Poland, where prayer services will be held Wednesday at 9:15 am
A funeral mass will be Wednesday at 10:00 am at St. Nicholas Roman Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Lake Park Cemetery.
