Struthers - Alma E. Macejko, 95, died Wednesday afternoon, August 21, 2013 at St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro, Arkansas.
Mrs. Macejko was born February 24, 1918 in Struthers, a daughter of Edwin and Mary Ellen Steelburg Parker. She was a lifelong resident of Struthers, until moving to Jonesboro in January of this year to live with her daughter and son-in-law, Bill.
She was a 1936 graduate of Struthers High School and played on its basketball team. During World War II, she worked at General Fireproofing and Truscon Steel. After the war, Alma was a homemaker, dedicating her time to raising her family.
She was a member of Christ Our Savior Parish at Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church in Struthers, where she volunteered as a pierogi maker. While raising her children, Alma was a Campfire Girl Leader. In her spare time, Mrs. Macejko enjoyed gardening and crafts.
Her husband, Dan P. Macejko Sr., whom she married November 4, 1941, died February 10, 2004. She is survived by two daughters, Martha (William) Biskup of Jonesboro, Arkanas and Phyllis (William) Swan of New Cumberland, West Virginia; two sons, Dan (Debbie) Macejko Jr. of Newport News, Virginia and Donald (Trish) Macejko of Hillsboro Beach, Florida; daughter-in-law, Dee Macejko of Lowellville; eight grandchildren, Paul Macejko Jr., Molly Macejko, Jake Macejko, Kim VanLeeuwen, Amy Emmons, Keith Brown, Billie Jo Fiorenza, and Victor Divito; ten great-grandchildren; and five foster children.
In addition to her parents and husband, Alma was preceded in death by a daughter, Alma Brown; two sons, Robert Macejko and Paul Macejko Sr.; three sisters, Betty Miller, Mary Brennard, and Ruth Rohrbaugh; and great-grandchild, William Brown.
A prayer service will be held Monday at 9:30 a.m. at the Davidson-Becker Funeral Home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church. Interment will follow at St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery.
Family and friends will be received Sunday from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
