Alma Cockman, 90 YOUNGSTOWN- Alma Cockman, 90, of 4071 Glenwood died Saturday afternoon at Greenbriar Hospital for Specialty Services. Mrs. Cockman was born May 27, 1912 in Sharon, PA, a daughter of Alfred E. and Eve Phillips Stubbs. She was a general manager the William and Herbert Son Company where she worked for 22 years. Previously she worked as a secretary for the Daughters of America for 8 years and Levinson Jewelry store for 2 years. The December 22, 1966 edition of the Youngstown Vindicator carried a feature story by Esther Hamilton, who is now deceased. Mrs. Cockman attended St. Johnâa�a��s Episcopal Church since moving from Sharon to Youngstown in 1929. She graduated from the Roger School and had classes at Youngstown State University. She was a past president of the American Society of Woman Accountants, belonged to the Poland Chapter of A.A.R.P. Her husband, Albert E. Cockman, whom she married April 5, 1934, died in 1979. Mr. and Mrs. Cockman traveled extensively making many trips to the British Isles excluding Ireland, as well as Gernany where her son Ed and family lived for two years. They also visited Orence, Spain, Italy, Malta, British Channel Islands, New Zealand, Australia, Hong Kong, Japan,, Tahite, all 50 states and all of Canada. Mrs. Cockman She is survived by her sons, Leonard J. Cockman of Poland and A. Edward (Patricia) Cockman of Bend, Oregon; Five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren Her brother Arthur R. Stubbs was killed at Tarawa in the Pacific during WWII. Memorial tributes may be given in her name to St. Johnâa�a��s Episcople Church 323 Wick Ave., Youngstown.
