BOARDMAN - Allan Craig Muter, 97 of Boardman, died Tuesday, June 23, 2009 at his residence. His wife, the former Grace L. Parfitt whom he married October 3, 1936, died November 16, 1989.
Mr. Muter was born March 31, 1912 in Girard, a son of Charles G. and Theadora A. Mowbray Muter.
He was employed 37 years by Republic Steel Corporation and was a supervisor in the bindery of the Printing Department, retiring in March of 1977. He was a life time member of the Mahoning Valley Management Association. He attended Youngstown State University. He joined Hillman Masonic Lodge, F. & A.M. 481, January 10, 1945, and was a 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason. He was a Christian all of his life and attended Westminster Presbyterian Church. He was a master craftsman in bookbinding, wood working and also steel working. He is survived by a son, Paul A. Muter, with whom he made his home, a daughter Lucille C. Fitch, of Boardman, 6 granddaughters, Joyce (Nello) Ruscitti, Julie (Dale) Rhoades, Laura (Matthew) Lascola, Amy (Jay) Reecer, Jeaneen Flyak, Dr. Jeanette (Dr. David) Rich and 8 great-grandchildren, Diana, Catherine, Gregory, Craig, Joseph, Alexa, Jacquelyn and Lauren.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 5-7 at the Cunningham Becker Funeral Home in Poland. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Lake Park Cemetery.
