Youngstown - Alice Mae Takach, 102, formerly of Boardman, died Friday evening, December 4, 2015 at Park Vista Retirement Center.
Mrs. Takach was born October 18, 1913 in Youngstown, a daughter of Arthur and Alice Jarvis Whitehouse.
Raised on the West Side of Youngstown, Alice attended South High School. On September 22, 1934, she married Tabor F. Takach and became a dedicated homemaker. In 1942, they relocated to Boardman after building a home on Argyle Avenue.
She was a longtime member of the Boardman United Methodist Church. Her interests included sewing, crocheting, gardening, and doing projects around her home. Alice also enjoyed meeting monthly with her friends for lunch and spending time with her family.
Her husband, Tabor, preceded her in death on September 3, 1986. She is survived by her son, Arthur (Pat) Takach of Austintown; 8 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Alice was preceded in death by her daughter, Saundra O'Dell; and two brothers, William and George Whitehouse.
Services will be held on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at the Davis-Becker Funeral Home, 8536 Market St., Boardman. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
Family and friends will be received on Friday from 5-7 p.m. and Saturday from 9:30-10:15 a.m. at the funeral home.
