Alice Ramming Lewis, 94

Greenville, PA.: Alice Louise Lewis, 94 of Greenville, PA., formerly of Raleigh, North Carolina, passed away on Tuesday, July 2, 2019, at UPMC Horizon in Farrell, Pa. with her loving family by her side.

Alice was born December 4, 1924, in Pittsburgh, PA, daughter of the late Richard and Amanda (Knoellinger) Ramming.

Alice graduated from Westview High School in1942 and the University of Pittsburgh with a Bachelor's degree in nursing in 1946.

Alice worked as an RN for Magee Women's Hospital in Pittsburgh after graduation.  She taught practical nursing at Appalachian Hospital in Beckley, West Virginia. She was the office manager for her husband’s dental office in Beckley, West Virginia where she raised her family and was a dedicated homemaker.

She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Raleigh, North Carolina and a strong believer in her faith.

Alice is survived by three children, Richard M. (Vickie) Lewis of Phoenix, AZ., Joseph A. (Lori) Lewis of New York, NY; and Jenny K. (Bob) Aiello of Raleigh, NC; a sister, Evelyn Ramming of Greenville, PA; 15 grandchildren, Christa, Chad (Michelle), Andrew, Michael (Meredith), Joshua (Allison), Rebekah (Kevin), Jaclyn, Greg (Victoria), Kati (Carl), Adrianne (Justin), Allison (John), Ben (Shari), Peter (Brittany), John and Daniel; and 18 great-grandchildren.

Besides her parents, Alice was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Benjamin M. Lewis, whom she married on September 4, 1947, died March 11, 2009; a son, Thomas A. Lewis, her sister, Janet Calvert and an infant brother, Richard Ramming.

A Memorial Service will be held at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, 305 Central Ave. West View, PA on Friday, July 26, at noon.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, August 10th at 12:00 noon at Grace Lutheran Church, 5010 Six Forks Road, Raleigh, North Carolina with Reverend Timothy Taylor officiating. Interment will take place at Grace Lutheran Church Columbarium.

Family and friends are welcome to attend either or both services.

Alice was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and sister. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends while making other’s lives richer and happier each day.  She will be dearly missed by all.
