Alice P. (Lucas) Gallo

October 30, 1926 — June 11, 2016

Alice P. Lucas Gallo, 89, died June 11, 2016 at Select Specialty, Boardman Campus.

Alice was born October 30, 1926 in Sharon, PA, a daughter of Joseph and Vera Silas Lucas, and came to this area in 1950.

After graduating from Grove City High School in 1944, Alice began her career as a dancer, traveling the east coast and was nominated to be a June Taylor Dancer. She later worked as an operator for Ohio Bell Telephone and a monitor for Sonitrol Security.

She was a member of St. Joseph Church and its Ladies Guild, the Meander Golf League for 18 years, and the Eagles in Austintown. She also enjoyed gardening, bingo, playing cards with friends, wearing cowboy hats, listening to polka music, visiting relatives in Grove City, supporting church dinners weekly, and donating charities, many which were animal related. She also embraced her Slovak heritage, cooking and speaking the language with family.

She is survived by her daughter, Valerie Gallo; grandchildren, Angel and Michael Cusick; brothers, August and William Lucas; and her former husband, Frank Gallo.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Dennis Gallo; a brother, Emil Lucas; and a sister, Helen Arno.

There will be no calling hours. A private service was held for the family.

"Mom, Your spirit appears to me in soft whispers of the trees and the leaves that dance happily in the June sun. I see your smile in every one of them. You brought me life, for that I am not only eternally grateful, but what you gave me over and above that was Jesus' love. Only you, mother, showed me the true meaning of sacrificial love that could only be shown through the Lord within you. Always giving and never expecting anything in return. Your soul may be again with your Creator, but your spirit will live within and around me all the days of my life. Until, I see you again, and hear your precious voice calling my name, I will hear you through God's still small voice that speaks in my ear and in every beat of my heart. I am yours and you are mine. I love you and carry and treasure your memory with me forever Mom." -Your Valerie
