ALFRED SCOFINSKY, Sr. âa�" 82 LOWELLVILLE âa�" Alfred Scofinsky, 82, passed away Thursday, January 11, at St. Elizabeth Medical Center. He was born November 9, 1924 in a farmhouse in Edinburgh, PA. Al was the son of John and Mary Scofinsky. Mr. Scofinsky is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Martha S. Scofinsky of Lowellville. Two brothers, Joseph (Betty) Scofinsky of Hubbard, Steven Scofinsky of Columbus, two daughters, Joyce (Martin) Kollar of Pulaski, Jo Ann (Russ) Konkowski of Aurora, three sons, Alfred (Angela) Scofinsky, Jr., of Bessemer, Richard (Laurie) Scofinsky of Youngstown, William (Bridget) Scofinsky of Austintown, 12 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren. Mr. Scofinsky was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, John Scofinsky, Andy Scofinsky, George Scofinsky, three sisters, Leona Scofinsky, Mary Tyminski, Irene Carville, one son, Gary W. Scofinsky, Sr., and two grandchildren. Al an Martha met and fell in love while he was serving his country during WWII in the United States Air Force. Together they worked to build a family on a strong foundation of love and hard work. Al worked for over 32 years at the Youngstown Sheet and Tube as a welder. His superior record of service included a period of 63 consecutive 12-hour shifts without a day off. After he retired, he and Martha were inseparable. A dedicated sports fan, Al followed the Cleveland Indians with passion and was an avid thoroughbred racing fan. He enjoyed cooking meals for his family, working in his yard, his garden, and fixing whatever he could get his hands on. Alâa�a��s legacy will be his passionate love for his wife and their families. Al will be sorely missed by everyone who knew him. His love and concern for others will live on through his family. The family will welcome friends from 4-7 Sunday at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home, Lowellville, where prayer services will be held Monday morning at 9:45 am. Friends may call one hour prior to the prayer service. A mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Nicholas Church in Struthers at 10:30am. Condolences may be sent at
