Mineral Ridge - Alfred M. Baker, 85, formerly of Struthers, died July 3, 2014 at Vista Center at the Ridge.
Mr. Baker was born October 19, 1929 in Struthers, a son of Albert and Edna Myers Baker.
Mr. Baker worked as a Stationary Engineer for Republic Steel for 38 years retiring in 1985. He was a member of American Legion and was a veteran of the United States Marine Corp.
His wife, the former Dorothy Hassey, whom he married in 1970, died Oct. 10, 2002.
He is survived by two sons, Gerald (Ruth) Baker of Leetonia and Rodney Scott Baker of Columbiana; four step-children, Roberta (Greg) Holt of Texas, Thomas (Connie) Vagas of North Carolina, Richard (Susan) Vagas of Youngstown, and James Vagas of Texas; one sister Lola Ackworth of Hubbard; one brother, Floyd Baker of Poland; two grandsons, Nome Baker and Nick (Alexandra) Baker; three step- grandchildren; and five step-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents and wife, Alfred was a preceded in death by one brother, Charles Baker; and one sister, Ruby Hammerton.
Services will be Monday 11AM at the Davidson-Becker Funeral Home, 11 Spring St, Struthers. Interment will follow at Lake Park Cemetery with military honors.
Friend and family will be received Monday from 10:00-10:45AM at the funeral home.
