Poland - Alex E. George, 91, died December 4, 2013 at Greenbriar Nursing Home.
Mr. George was born August 22, 1922 in Campbell, son of John and Anna Master George.
Alex was a 1941 graduate of Campbell Memorial High School and was a cosmetologist for 65 years/owner of Alex George Beauty Salon. He was a member of Poland Presbyterian Church, where he was a Deacon, Elder, and Sunday School Teacher. He enjoyed watching sports especially the Browns and Indians. Alex was a veteran of the United States Army having served during WWII. He was a recipient of the European African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with 3 Bronze Stars and the World War II Victory Medal.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, the former Dorothy Mae Bianco, whom he married March 1, 1947; one daughter, Karen L. George of New York City; one son, William T. George of Youngstown; one granddaughter, Tricia L. George; and a sister, Eleanor Lazar of Youngstown.
Besides his parents, Alex was preceded in death by his siblings, Tex Floco, Diana Jean Floco, Nick Floco, Sylvester Floco, Jeanie Hundorfean, and Victor George.
A memorial service will be held at Poland Presbyterian Church, Monday at 11:00 AM with Rev. Robbin Del Nagro officiating. Friends and family will be received from 10:30-11 AM. at the church.
