Alex Esarco

September 30, 1927 — January 17, 2015

LOWELLVILLE - Alex Esarco, 87, died Jan. 17, 2015, at his residence.
Mr. Esarco was born Sept. 30, 1927, in Edinburgh, Pa., a son of Giacomo and Susie DePrano Esarco.
He attended Union High School before entering the U.S. Army, Merchant Marine Division, having served from 1944 to 1946. In 2003, Alex received a Honorary Diploma from Poland High School through a special program that the government implemented for veterans that served in World War II.
Mr. Esarco was as a crane man for Sharon Steel and GATX, before retiring in 1980.
He was former President of the South County Democrat Club, and was a Poland Township Precinct Committeeman and Poland Township Trustee.
Alex enjoyed shooting pool, playing bocce, and gardening. He played the accordion and ukelele at local taverns.
He is survived by his wife, the former Ann Bonace of Lowellville, who he married June 5, 1948; one daughter, Linda (Steve) Myers of Streetsboro; one son, Alex (Laurie) Esarco of Flemington, N.J.; two sisters, Susie (James) Barone of Lowellville and Sandy (Frank ) Filisky of Lowellville; one brother, Anthony Esarco of Lowellville; one sister-in-law, Maxine Esarco; and six grandchildren, Jason, Alex Richard, Nicholas, Max, Sophie, and Abbie.
Besides his parents, Alex was preceded in death by one daughter, Christine Esarco; and two brothers, Jack Esarco Jr. and Gerald Esarco.
Services will be held at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home, Lowellville Chapel, 247 McGill St., Wednesday at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Cemetery, Lowellville, with military honors.
Friends and family will be received Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m. and Wednesday, one hour prior at the funeral home.
