Albin P. "Bud" Dearing

April 29, 1926 — June 22, 2014

On Sunday, June 23, 2014 Albin "Bud" P. Dearing, 88, of Poland left this earth to "run five minute wires" with the Great Engineer in Heaven.


Born April 29, 1926, to Albin Pasteur Dearing, and Helen Wiles Dearing. He graduated from Poland Seminary High School in 1943 where he played basketball and football. He entered the Navy's V 12 Program and graduated from Yale in 1946 with a B.S. in Electrical Engineering.
In 1946, following the death of his father, Bud returned home to manage Dearing & Co. In 1957 he left the operations of Dearing & Co. to his brother, Richard H. Dearing, and founded Panelmatic, Inc., a company which specializes in engineering, designing and building customized electrical control panels which can be found internationally today.

His activities included: The Boys & Girls Club, 25th president of the Youngstown YMCA, Camp Fitch, past president of the Poland School Board, the Poland Foundation for Academic Excellence (recipient of the 1998 Alumni of the Year), Kiwanis, Poland Forest Foundation, Southside Bridge Club, and a member of Bethel Friends Church.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Richard Heyward Dearing, and sister, Susan Dearing Appelbaum.

He is survived by his wife, the former Jean Lynch, who he married May 20, 1950, three daughters, Valerie Dearing of North Lima, Dru (Fred) Marchese of Poland, and Julie (Mike) Simington of Poland; six grandchildren, Jordan (Missy) Shaver, Boardman, Britt (Dan) Mickley, Columbus, Benjamin (April) Marchese, St. Louis, Robert Thompson, Poland, Cameron Marchese, Pittsburgh, Casey (Nathalie) Thompson, Pittsburgh; and four great-grandchildren, Dominic Marchese, Jonathan Marchese, Charleigh Mickley, Kinsley Shaver.

He always considered the employees of Panelmatic as his extended family and very much a part of his life. Throughout his career he was especially grateful for the mentorship of his friend Attorney James E. Mitchell.

A Memorial service will be held on Thursday, June 26, 2014 at 7:00PM at Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home, Poland. Friends and family will be received from 4:00PM- 6:45PM prior to the service.
