Albert Peter Morell

Albert Peter Morell, 93, passed away peacefully at home with his children at his side on Thursday, October 29, 2015. Albert was born March 11, 1922, the youngest and 21st child of Peter and Marie Antoinette (Rossi) Morell in Struthers, Ohio. He graduated from Struthers High School in June of 1940.

Albert worked till he was 91 years old, retiring in 2013 after 15 years as a Wal-Mart greater, where he enjoyed "gabbing" with all that came. He owned several businesses throughout his life including Morell Brothers Auto Repair garage in Lowellville with his two brothers, and Al's Emergency repair service, among others. He spent most of his life working at various Auto Dealerships as a service manager, most notable, Gough Ford in Struthers where he was service manager for over 30 years. Later in life Albert attended Kent State University to obtain his teaching certificate and taught Auto Mechanics at Columbiana Joint Vocational School.
Albert serviced his country during World War II and was honorable discharged in 1945 as a Staff Sgt. and Crew Chief with the Army-Air Force. He was proud of his service to his country, apparent when he was able to attend both the ground breaking ceremonies in 2000 and the dedication of the World War II memorial in 2004 in Washington DC.
Albert enjoyed life and spending time with his family. He was known for telling jokes and stories of his childhood. He was proud of his large family and his Italian heritage. He loved to travel and visited Italy twice. He enjoyed playing cards, cooking, and fixing everything. Al never saw anything he couldn't fix. He truly was a "Jack of all Trades".
Albert was the last of his generation and leaves to cherish his memory and carry on his legacy five children, Judy (Jim) Dill of Struthers, Toni (Gary) Bohl of Canton, Cathy (Rob) Bohl, his loving and devoted caregiver of Struthers, Albert (Cheryl) Morell, of Boardman, and Tina Morell also of Struthers. Seven grandchildren, Lisa (John) Sinclair, Sam (Keri) Bohl, Dawn (Scott) Crawford, Amy (Darren) Bodak, Christina (Ryan) Jackson, Albert Todd Morell and Bob West; a stepson, Patrick (Elaine) Lorelli of Canfield; thirteen great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews , great, great- great and great- great- great- nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife and mother of his children, Pearl (Norris) Morell, his second wife Louise (Lorelli) Morell, a stepson Larry Lorelli, and twenty brothers and sisters. Sisters Rose Barone, Lucy Barone, Mary Ziemann, Ann Colaluca, Marietta Mainer, and Alice Morell. Brothers Sam, who helped raise him, John, Carmen, Peter, Tom, and Alex. Several of his brothers and sister died at a young age including Catherine, Pietra, Domcnico, Vita, Anna, Vito, and Pietro.
The family would like to thank Hospice of the Valley for their care and dedication.
Family and friends will be received Sunday from 4-7 PM at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home, Poland.
A prayer service will be conducted Monday at 9:15 AM at the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Luke Church with Father Joseph A. Fata officiating. Interment will follow at Holy Rosary Cemetery in Lowellville.
