Poland - Albert C. Fox, 84, of Poland, formerly of Canfield, died suddenly of a stroke, Tuesday afternoon, July 22, at Hospice of the Valley Hospice House.

Al was born May 4, 1930 in Youngstown, a son of Thomas and Ruth Thompson Fox.

Raised in Struthers, Al graduated from Struthers High School in 1948. From 1948 until 1957 Al worked at Republic Steel. In 1957 he began his own business as a building contractor, building numerous homes in the area. In 1961 Al was employed at Ohio Edison where he held numerous positions and retired in 1991.

Al was a member of the Boardman Baptist Church where he was a Deacon and Superintendent of the Sunday School. He was a former member and President of the Optimist Club.

He enjoyed attending his grandchildren's sporting events, playing cards, watching the Cleveland Indians and spending winters in Estero, FL. He was known for his friendliness, was very outgoing and never met a stranger. Al most enjoyed his family and friends.

His first wife, the former Jean Sharp, whom he married June 26, 1950 died May 31, 2003. He leaves his second wife, the former Darlene Helsel Zaba, whom he married July 20, 2007; four sons, James T. Fox and Daniel C. (Doreen) Fox all of Struthers, Rick L. (Donna) Fox of Canfield, and Randy A. (Gerry) Fox of Philadelphia, PA; step-daughter, Janet (Sam) Pitzulo of Canfield; grandchildren, Jennifer (Mike) Agnone, James (Dana) Fox, Jr, Jodi (Steve) Kishel, Daniel Fox, Jr., Missy (Shick) Park; Atty. David Fox, Joseph Fox, Brian Fox; step grandchildren; Christine (Bob) Milone, Matt (Diane) Cox and Mike (Melissa) Cox, Dana (Cody) Allen and John Pitzulo; great-grandchildren, Natalie Agnone, Kelsey Agnone, Jocelyn Koziorynski; Tommy Koziorynski, Madison Fox, Kian Fox, Aria and Onyx Park; step-great-grandchildren, Brittany, Bobby, Brooke, Anthony, Gina, Ben, Emily, Lauren, and Nathan; and one step-great-great-grandson, Christopher; sister, Dorothy Ridenour of Struthers and sister-in-law, Margaret Fox of Poland.

Besides his parents and first wife, Al was preceded in death by his siblings, Nina Fisher, Lawrence Fox, Alice Walker, and Esther White; and daughter-in-law, Marsha Fox.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, 11:00 AM at the Boardman Baptist Church with Pastor Dennis Massie officiating. Interment will be at the Poland Riverside Cemetery.

Friends will be received Friday from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Davis-Becker Funeral Home Boardman, and Saturday from 10:00 AM until 10:45 AM at the church.
