Boardman - Albert Thomas Diana, 73, died Sunday, June 3, 2012 surrounded by his family.
Mr. Diana was born June 19, 1938 in Youngstown, a son of Christy and Vera (Boyer) Diana.
He was a 1956 graduate of East High School and attended Youngstown State University. Al played baseball in high school and college. After school, he continued his passion for the game and was a member of Mahoning Valley Slow Pitch League, both as a player and manager.
Al worked as a manager for many years with Standard Oil, and then worked in inventory control for Aeroquip, Electric Equipment, and Southern Auto Parts. He served in the United States Marine Corps. Reserves for six years.

Mr. Diana was a charter member of St. Luke Catholic Church, where he was involved in the RCIA. Al was also a member of the ACC Club and a Junior Achievement Leader. Al's interests included rooting for the Cleveland Browns and Cleveland Indians, had a lifelong love for cars, but the most important thing in his life was the love of family.

He is survived by his wife, the former Phyllis Hagg, whom he married November 17, 1962; two daughters, Linda (Greg) Donchess of Austintown and Nancy (Rick) Franko of Poland; two grandsons, Seth and Jacob Donchess; brother, Henry (Rosemary) Diana of Howland; brother-in-law, Daniel Hagg of Boardman; sister-in-law, Patricia Connolly of Boardman; two nieces, Leslie (Scott) Seidel of Cleveland and Rita (Chris) Draggs of London, Arkansas; three nephews, Daniel (Jennifer) Hagg of Portland, Oregon, John (Marian) Diana of Girard, and Henry Diana of St. Simon Island, Georgia; an aunt, Mary Diana of Vienna; and many cousins.

In addition to his parents, Al was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Jack Connolly; and numerous aunts and uncles.

A prayer service will be held Thursday at 9:15 a.m. at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home in Poland followed by a Mass of Christian Burial Thursday at 10 a.m. at St. Luke Catholic Church with Fr. Joseph Fata officiating. Interment will follow at Poland Riverside Cemetery.

Family and friends will be received Wednesday from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
