Struthers - Albert DeChellis, 82, of Struthers, died Wednesday morning, January 13, 2016 at his residence surrounded by his family.
Albert was born May 17, 1933 in Struthers, a son of Carlo and Antoinetta Pompeo DeChellis.
A life-long resident of Struthers, Al was a graduate of Struthers High School, Class of 1951. He worked for Ohio Edison for over 20 years and retired in 1996. Al was a member of Christ Our Savior Parish at St. Nicholas Church in Struthers where he was a member of the Holy Name and Altar and Rosary Society.
An avid sports fan, Al grew to love the Cavaliers and supported the Cleveland Browns. He especially enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren in their sporting and extra-curricular activities. His other passion was gardening and canning.
He leaves his wife of 60 years, the former Angeline L. Cumo, whom he married May 14, 1955; two sons, Dr. Albert P. (Lorraine) DeChellis of Boardman and David (Lynn) DeChellis of Canton; one daughter, Joanne (Jim) Napolitano of Akron; one sister, Florina Creaturo of Struthers; seven grandchildren, Matthew and Jennifer DeChellis, Nathalie (Casey) DeChellis Thompson, Nathan and Nina Napolitano, and Lauren and Megan DeChellis.
Besides his parents, Al was preceded in death by four sisters, Amelia Giancola, Laura Fiorentine, Mary DeFrances, and Elizabeth Bell; three brothers, James, Louis, and infant Albert DeChellis.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday at Christ Our Savior Parish at St. Nicholas Roman Catholic Church at 12:00 Noon with Fr. Bernard N. Gaeta officiating. Interment will follow at the St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery, Lowellville, Ohio.
Friends will be received Tuesday from 10:00 AM to 11:45 AM at the church.
