Boardman - Agnes E. Schmidt, 88, died February 23, 2017 at her residence.

Mrs. Schmidt was born April 15, 1928 in Wellsville, OH, a daughter of Julian and Helen Kline Ference.

She graduated from Wellsville High School in 1946, then became employed at the office of Sterling China Co. for a period of 8 years.

Agnes married John Schmidt on March 2, 1957 at St. Aloysius Church in East Liverpool.

They moved to Youngstown and she obtained employment at McCune and Co., and later at Youngstown Sheet and Tube.

Agnes enjoyed traveling extensively with John to Europe, including Germany and Austria. They also visited Las Vegas and Atlantic City, where they enjoyed the casinos.

Her hobbies consisted of gardening and flower gardens, especially roses.

She enjoyed being a homemaker, baking many pies and cakes for the family.

Agnes and John spent time walking their two dogs, Dino and Rusty in Mill Creek Park.

Perhaps her greatest joy was her two grandchildren, Stephanie and Alexa, playing in Boardman Park, going shopping, and buying them toys and clothing.

She was a 49 year member of St. Charles Church in Boardman.

She is survived by her husband, John of Boardman; one daughter, Susan (Rich)Brink of Poland ; one son, John L.(Rosyln) Schmidt Boardman; one brother, Ted Ference of Ashtabula; and two wonderful grandchildren, Stephanie and Alexa.

Besides her parents, Agnes was preceded in death by three sisters, Pauline, Helen, and Jean; and three brothers, Henry, Raymond, and Bernard.

Funeral services will be held Monday at 11:00AM at the Davis-Becker Funeral Home, 8536 Market St., Boardman. There will be no calling hours.

Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery, Youngstown.
