Poland - Agnes B. Johnson, 95, died Tuesday afternoon, May 27, 2014 at Caprice Health Center in North Lima.
Mrs. Johnson was born June 3, 1918 in Youngstown, a daughter of Paul and Barbara Sugar Okrucky.
She was a 1937 graduate of Springfield High School. Mrs. Johnson worked for many years in various positions for the Blackburn Home for the Aged in Poland.
A member of Zion Lutheran Church in New Middletown, Mrs. Johnson served as past president of the church's Lutheran Women's Group and the Dorcas Circle.
Mrs. Johnson enjoyed gardening, cooking, attending church activities, her cats, and spending time with her family.
Her husband, Arthur L. Johnson, whom she married October 28, 1937, died in 1985. She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Barbara Johnson of Boardman; four grandchildren, Arthur (Susan) Johnson III of Chicago, Amy (Daniel) Henry of Boardman, Michael (Molly) Johnson of Dublin, and Mollie Johnson of Powell; seven great-grandchildren, Jacob, Olivia, Carly, Gabriella, and Madeline Johnson, and Daniel and Ryan Henry; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Johnson was preceded in death by her son, Arthur L. Johnson Jr. in 2001; daughter, Cynthia Johnson in 2012; six brothers, Paul, Joseph, John, Walt, Stephen, and Thomas Okrucky; and two sisters, Eva Okrucky Baun and Helen Okrucky.
A funeral service will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at the Zion Lutheran Church of New Middletown. Interment will follow at Poland Riverside Cemetery.
Family and friends will be received Sunday from 1-3 p.m. at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home, 270 N. Main St., Poland and Monday from 10-10:45 a.m. at the church.
The family suggests that material tributes take the form of contributions in Mrs. Johnson's name to the Memorial Fund of Zion Lutheran Church of New Middletown, 10857 Main St., New Middletown, Ohio 44452.
