Poland - Adele Josephine Yanko, 93, died Sunday morning at Hampton Woods, Poland.
Adele was born March 19, 1917 in Homestead, PA, a daughter of Benedict and Lucy Trinkaite Backis. She was raised in Duquesne and came to the Youngstown are in the 1920's. In the 1980's Adele resided in LaJolla, Ca.
She attended East High School and worked at various department stores including McKelveys and Strouss downtown. She retired in 1982 after 20 years of service. She was a member of St. Dominic Church since 1947.
Her husband Paul, whom she married November 12, 1937 died November 1, 1958. She leaves one daughter, Carole Roberts of Walnut Creek, CA; two sons, Thomas (Judge Maureen Sweeney of the Mahoning County Pleas Court) Yanko of Poland, and Robert Yanko of San Diego, CA; and three grandchildren, Terry and Wendy Yanko of Columbus and Paul Yanko of Greenville, SC.
Besides her parents and husband, Adele was preceded in death by her sister, Antoinette Trippe and son-in-law, Edwin Roberts.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday 10:00 A.M. at St. Dominic Church. Interment will follow at the Poland Riverside Cemetery.
Friends will be received Tuesday from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home Poland, where a prayer service will be held Wednesday at 9:15 AM at the funeral home.
